"But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it." (Romans 8:25) The word "persevere" is very important. It is an old word and we don't hear much about it now-a-days when so many are throwing-in-the-towel, bailing out, and giving up. We don't hear much about hanging in there and persevering -- staying power. But there is more to it than just merely enduring. Perseverance is standing with open hands and looking into the face of God and saying, "I submit myself to You. I am trying hard to hear what You are saying to me. I wholly and completely admit my dependence on You. I've run out of answers and I'm patiently waiting on You!" That's the perseverance I'm talking about.
