"Like charcoal to hot embers and wood to fire, so is a contentious man to kindle strife." (Proverbs 26:21) What is a peacemaker? It is a person who, first, is at peace with himself -- internally at ease -- not agitated, ill-tempered, in turmoil and therefore abrasive. Second, he is a person who works hard to settle quarrels, not start them, is accepting, tolerant, and finds no pleasure in being negative. Have you ever been around a Christian who is not a peacemaker? Of course, we all have. Was being around them pleasant? Did you sense a servant's heart in them? Were you built up and encouraged by them? Was the body of Christ strengthened and supported? You know the answers to those questions. The bottom line is this: few things are more godlike than peace. When we promote peace, pursue it, and model it, we are linked directly with Him!
