"Behold, I, even I am bringing the flood of water upon the earth . . . But I will establish My covenant with you; and you shall enter the ark." (Genesis 6:17-18) Noah was informed by God of His plan to destroy the world with a flood. Noah walked by faith with God for one hundred and twenty years. He gathered the materials and built the ark, probably while those around him ridiculed him. . . after all, there had never been any rain before. Noah preached righteousness to those around him as he was building the ark. Noah, who was surrounded and mocked by his contemporaries, stood against the tide of his culture. Sometimes our faith is such a rebuke to those around us, that we suffer persecution because of it. We can't expect overwhelming approval and affirmation just because we've chosen to walk by faith!
