Mid Week Devotional With Chris Chase

Writer's picture: Revive Church LakelandRevive Church Lakeland

"You are the salt of the earth . . . You are the light of the world." (Matthew 5:13-15) God never said that Christians would have it easy in this world. Instead, He told us up front that the arena of this world is not a "friend of grace to help us on to God." Nevertheless, He told a handful of Palestinian peasants, as well as all godly servants in every generation, that our influence would be nothing short of remarkable. We are the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world." Our influence is to be so far-reaching that our presence is as significant as salt on food and as light in the darkness. Neither is loud or externally impressive, but both are essential. Without our influence this old world would soon begin to realize our absence. Even though it may not admit it, society needs both salt and light!
