"Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint." (Proverbs 23:4) The Bible has a lot to say about money . . . it talks about earning money and spending money, saving money and giving money, investing money and even wasting money. Nowhere in God's Word does it come even close to suggesting that money brings ultimate security or happiness. Pastor Charles Swindoll preached a message on money and had this to say: "That which constitutes great wealth is not related to money. It is an attitude of satisfaction (enough is enough), coupled with inner peace (an absence of churning), plus a day-to-day, moment-by-moment walk with God." That sounds like really simple advice, but in this world of more, more, more and push, push, push and grab, grab, grab, this counsel is long overdue. In a word, the secret is "contentment!"
