I'm so glad I get to serve with you!
It's a privilege for us to serve JesusServing with you is part of what makes this place so great. We get to share our journey of faith with each other, and I'm so thankful for the opportunity to worship and serve with you. Thank you for being a part of our team, and for letting God work through you in our community and church.
Our service team has changed a lot this year. The addition of new ministries and new members has meant that our team looks a bit different this year. Change has become the norm recently, and that's ok. So, I would like for us to refresh on our basic expectations in order to help us to continue to strengthen and grow our team.
The list below is a starting point. Your individual teams may add to this list, and we may tweak it as a ministry as we reevaluate our needs over time.
Leaders, please check with your teams to make sure that everyone understands and is on board. Also, please check in with your teams weekly to make sure that we are well staffed for Sunday. The fewer surprises when we gather the better. Reach out to me anytime if you need my help.
Parents, please help us by talking through these with your student and helping them keep the commitments they have made to the rest of their team. We need them present and ready to serve on their week, or to have made arrangements for someone to fill their spot.
Working on this together is going to help us take an already thriving ministry to the next level. Here's what I'm asking for.
Expectations of Volunteers at Revive Church
Regular Church Attendance - Corporate worship is vital to our faith. As a volunteer we want you to be here to grow and gain strength from our times of worship and fellowship. We also need you to be here when it's your week to serve. Please know your schedule and try to be here as often as you can. If you can't make it, we ask that you find someone to take your place and arrange that with your ministry leader a week before your service time.
Work with Excellence - Good enough is never good enough. Everything we do should be done in excellence (not necessarily perfection) as an act of worship to our Father, and as an example to those we serve. Always give your very best.
Be on time - We need All of our volunteers to shoot for being here 5-10 minutes before your scheduled shift (15-20 minutes for leaders & teachers). Use that time to make sure you have everything ready for your time of service. It will take a lot of stress off of you and your leader, and will communicate to those you serve that you are excited about the opportunity to serve and love them.
Prayer - We need to be on our knees daily praying for our church, our community, and our nation. We should all be praying for our leadership team and those we directly lead, teach, or minister to. I also recommend praying through our church directory, and praying for those outside of the church that you are reaching out to on a regular basis.
Stay in the Word - Make sure that you are building the habit of being in God's word daily and allowing it to transform you and how you serve. You will have little to pour into others if you're not getting filled up regularly. I'll be glad to help with this if you need a little direction.
Team Work - We are called the Body of Christ for a reason. Not only do we represent Jesus here, but we are called to do this work together. Please make every effort to work with and not against each other. If someone is struggling let's pull together and help them. If something is lacking in our church let's work together to correct the issue. This is one of the greatest ways we can love and take care of each other, and set an example for others to follow.
We can do this! We are asking a lot, but our Savior is worthy of our best. Serving Him and others is a sacrifice of time and energy, but the results of our investment are life-changing.
Remember, we exist to bring glory to God and to be a reflection of His love in this community. Thank you for all that you do to make that happen. God is working through you to change lives every day.
Please let me know if there is any way that I can serve or pray for you.
With His Love,
Pastor Jason
